The Nintendo Family Computer. Long story short I make a living creeping around fixing things often in the dark of night. Welp I couldn’t pass up a turn on this once I saw it sitting there. Super cool I’ve never even heard of this thing before but yet there it sat in a nearly empty building ready to go. It was really nice and had a super responsive controller. Can’t wait to get back there and crush some levels. I own something like 900 nes roms but its just so much better on the original equipment.

Cool find for sure. Did those ever actually retail in North America or was it a Japanese market only kind of thing? Either way, nice to see the machine and media still working even after all of these years.

You can use a Famicom Disk System with a NA NES top loader? Huh. I thought you needed a Japanese Famicom to use it. Surprised the top loader would even have the inputs given that it’s the cheapens, stripped down version of the original Toaster NES.

I’ll have to look closer but I don’t think there was a hole to load cartridges if that’s what you mean. The console said family computer system. Was all Japanese writing other than the system name.

Pretty sure it was an import. I’ve been a decently heavy video game nerd and I’ve never seen one. The manufacturing dates were all between 1986-1990 for the various components. You can bet your bum if it was here I would have had it on Xmas/bday lists and would have been begging the parents!:)

Actually doing some research now it appears that the Famicom got an update along with the NA NES that gave them matching designs. It actually appears that both the NES and SNES started with a different designs to the Japanese Famicoms but updates in both regions brought matching designs. Learn something new everyday I guess.

Yeah I was researching it too. Very cool stuff lots of info out there. I was too tired and lazy to look into it last night.
